RESEARCH THEMES

INCREASE CANCER
PREVENTION & DETECTION

The current evidence base lacks an understanding of why uptake in national screening programs for bowel, breast and cervical cancer and HPV vaccination is lower in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people compared to other Australians.

IMPROVE DIAGNOSIS & TREATMENT

Providing improved resources to assist health literacy and communication is critical in improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients after a diagnosis of cancer.

ENHANCE SURVIVORSHIP EXPERIENCES

Research on identifying psychosocial needs, and salient quality of life, wellbeing and survivorship factors relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cancer survivors and their carers is paramount to ensure optimal management and care and, in the longer term, improve cancer outcomes.
